Rick with CowsWho We Are
Pecos Valley Grass Fed Beef is a partnership and family owned ranch situated along the Pecos River in Ribera, New Mexico. Much of our ranch is composed of irrigated pasture along the river, leased to us for improvement and reclamation on a long term basis by our neighbors and friends in the valley. We are forming strong alliances with other ranchers in New Mexico to fill the need for excellent quality grass fed and grass finished beef.

Our Product
Our goal is to produce the most nutritious and best tasting beef you have ever had. We accomplish this by raising predominately Scottish Hylanders and Hylander crosses. These animals have proven to yield the most flavorful and tender grass finished beef available. They rarely require veterinary intervention because of their strength and natural immunity to disease. We use no antibiotics or hormones of any kind, and only basic calfhood vaccinations are given.

Our Stewardship
We have seen that when animals are properly managed using rangeland monitoring, rotational grazing and common sense, grassland ecosystems benefit from their presence. Most of our pastures are certified organic and all of our rangeland has always been rangeland. Our animals live on a diet of the best native grasses and forage year round. The cattle are moved frequently to new pasture to make sure the grasses are not weakening due to grazing pressure. Through winter we supplement feed with all natural and certified organic hay. Some of our herd is being transitioned to certify organic for our consumers who require it, but we feel strongly that everything we do encompasses the meaning of organic.

Our Community
We are constantly trying to strengthen our community; creating jobs in our rural valley and bringing neglected fields and pastures back to life. Our valley has a long history of sustainable settlements and we are doing our part to carry that tradition forward.
