Rick in Truck with DogsWhy Eat Grassfed Beef?

Grassfed beef is simply beef from cows raised on their natural diet of grass. For thousands of years people have eaten beef from cows raised on pasture eating almost exclusively grass. In the last fifty years the meet industry has moved production to feedlots where cows are fed a diet of corn, other grains, soy, and "by-product feedstuf" in order to "fatten them up" faster and save money. In order to not get disease in these conditions, they are regularly given anitobiotic and hormones. Research is showing this these practices have a profound effects on the healthfulness of the meat produced. Compared to feedlot raised beef, grassfed beef has less total fat, saturated fat, cholesterol and calories. It also has more vitamin E, beta-carotene, vitamin C, and two health-promoting fats called omega-3 fatty acids and “conjugated linoleic acid,” or CLA. Also, meat from producers like Pecos Valley Grassfed Beed is free of antibiotics, hormones, and pesticide residues.
